Xiaomi 17 Pro Complete Review: Specs, Triple Camera System, and Pricing Analysis

📅 February 28, 2026 ⏱️ 8 min read

The Xiaomi 17 series launched in September 2025 as a China-exclusive lineup, and the Xiaomi 17 Pro sits squarely between the standard model and the Ultra — packing a compact design, a triple 50 MP camera system, a secondary OLED display on the back, and a massive 6,300 mAh battery. In this comprehensive preview we break down specs, camera performance, pricing, and what importing one to Europe actually entails.

Design & Build

At 151.1 × 71.8 × 8.0 mm and just 192 g, the 17 Pro is noticeably more compact than most 2025–2026 flagships. The frame combines aerospace-grade aluminium alloy and titanium, while the IP68/IP69 rating guarantees dust and water resistance (1.5 m / 30 min) as well as high-pressure hot water jets.

It ships in four finishes — Black, White, Green and Violet — each with a matte surface that resists fingerprints. The standout feature on the rear is a 2.66-inch OLED secondary screen (904 × 572 px, TCL Huaxing panel) that displays AI-generated wallpapers, real-time notifications, sticky notes and widgets — a concept first introduced on the Xiaomi 15 Pro and significantly refined here.

Display

The main panel is a 6.31″ AMOLED QHD (1,220 × 2,656 px, 463 ppi) with LTPO technology and a variable 1–120 Hz refresh rate. Peak brightness hits 3,500 nits, making outdoor visibility excellent even in direct sunlight.

It supports Dolby Vision, HDR10+, the full DCI-P3 colour gamut, and a 12-bit panel (10-bit + 2-bit FRC) alongside DC dimming and Always-On Display. The glass is Xiaomi’s proprietary Longjing Glass rather than Gorilla Glass, and it carries TÜV Rheinland Flicker-free plus Eye Comfort certifications.

With a usable surface of 89.4% thanks to razor-thin bezels, the 17 Pro ranks among the very best in screen-to-body ratio for a phone this size.

Performance & Hardware

ProcessorSnapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 (3 nm)
CPU2×4.61 GHz + 6×3.63 GHz (Octa-Core)
GPUAdreno 840 @ 1.2 GHz
RAM12 / 16 GB LPDDR5X
Storage256 GB / 512 GB / 1 TB — UFS 4.1
AnTuTu v114,027,702
Cooling3D ring-shaped cold pump vapor chamber

The Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 on a 3 nm node is the fastest mobile SoC available today. The 4+ million AnTuTu v11 score speaks for itself — gaming, multitasking, and 8K video exports happen without a hint of lag. UFS 4.1 storage roughly doubles sequential write speeds versus UFS 3.1, and this shows in app installs and large file transfers.

The 3D ring-shaped vapor chamber covers a larger surface area of the SoC compared to standard designs, keeping thermals in check during extended gaming sessions.

Camera System

The Xiaomi 17 Pro features a triple 50 MP camera layout — each lens has its own dedicated sensor. It lacks the 200 MP periscope telephoto of the Ultra, but offers an exceptionally well-balanced set:

📷 Main Camera — 50 MP

Sensor: Omnivision 950L LightHunter (1/1.28″) · Aperture: f/1.69 · OIS · Pixel size 1.22 μm · 2×2 pixel binning

The large 1/1.28″ sensor paired with the fast f/1.69 aperture excels in low-light conditions, while the LightHunter technology enhances dynamic range significantly.

🔭 Telephoto — 50 MP

Sensor: Samsung S5KJN5 (1/2.76″) · Aperture: f/3.0 · OIS · 2×2 pixel binning

Optical zoom with OIS delivers stable shots at distance. This is arguably the biggest gap versus the Ultra, which packs a 200 MP periscope lens.

🌿 Ultrawide + Macro — 50 MP

Sensor: Omnivision OV50M (1/2.76″) · Aperture: f/2.4 · 102° field of view · Macro down to 5 cm

The 102° FOV captures expansive landscapes and architecture, while the 5 cm macro mode handles close-up detail shots.

🤳 Selfie — 50 MP

Sensor: Omnivision OV50M (1/2.76″) · Aperture: f/2.2 · 2×2 pixel binning

A 50 MP front camera in a hole-punch design — an unusually high resolution for a selfie sensor, excellent for video calls and vlogging.

For video, the 17 Pro records 4K, 8K, and ultra slow motion up to 1,920 fps. Autofocus features include tracking AF, laser AF, phase detection AF, and hybrid OIS + EIS stabilization — making a real difference for handheld shooting.

Battery & Charging

Capacity6,300 mAh (Si-Carbon Li-Ion)
Wired100 W fast charge
Wireless50 W wireless
Reverse charging20 W wireless / 2.5 W wired

The 6,300 mAh Silicon-Carbon battery is enormous for a 6.31-inch phone. Si-Carbon technology allows higher energy density in a smaller volume, explaining how it fits in such a thin body (8 mm). Under heavy use — social media, streaming, gaming — expect a comfortable 1.5 days of battery life.

The 100 W wired charging fills the battery in roughly 30 minutes, while the 50 W wireless option is faster than the wired charging on many competitors.

Connectivity & Audio

No compromises on connectivity: WiFi 7 (802.11be), Bluetooth 5.4, NFC, IR blaster, UWB (Ultra-Wideband), and full 5G support with Xiaomi T1 & T1P signal booster chips. Four mid/high-frequency antennas improve signal reception in challenging areas.

Audio features stereo speakers, Dolby Atmos and Hi-Res Audio, though there is no 3.5 mm headphone jack — you’ll need USB-C or Bluetooth earbuds.

Network support is extensive: 21 5G bands, 24 4G LTE bands and 7 3G bands. For Greece specifically, Kimovil’s frequency checker confirms full compatibility with Cosmote, Vodafone and Nova on both 5G and 4G.

Software: HyperOS 3.0

It runs HyperOS 3.0 on Android 15. One critical detail: the Chinese edition does not include Google Mobile Services (GMS). That means Google Play, Gmail, Maps and other Google apps require sideloading — a relatively straightforward process, but one that may bring occasional stability quirks.

On the positive side, it supports Widevine L1, which means HD and 4K streaming on Netflix, Disney+ and other platforms works properly.

Secondary OLED Display

The rear 2.66″ OLED screen (TCL Huaxing, 904 × 572 px) is more than a novelty — it’s genuinely useful:

  • AI wallpapers: generated automatically based on location, time of day or mood
  • Dynamic notifications: see calls, messages and alerts without flipping the phone
  • Sticky notes & widgets: clock, timer, calendar at a glance
  • Selfie preview: use the main camera for selfies with a live viewfinder on the back

Pricing & Availability

The Xiaomi 17 Pro is currently China-exclusive with no confirmed global launch. Purchasing from Europe means importing via third-party sellers.

12 GB / 256 GB~€713
12 GB / 512 GB~€830
16 GB / 512 GB~€875
16 GB / 1 TB~€895

⚠️ Note: Prices reflect the Chinese model via import (source: Kimovil, February 2026). They do not include customs or VAT (24% in Greece) which may be added. The warranty is not valid in Europe.

If you want a comparable experience with proper warranty coverage, alternatives include the Xiaomi 15T Pro (~€650, global) or the OnePlus 15 (~€800, global).

Who Is It For?

✅ Pros

  • Compact size (6.31″) with full flagship specs
  • Massive 6,300 mAh battery + 100 W charging
  • Outstanding QHD AMOLED at 3,500 nits
  • Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 — top-tier performance

The Xiaomi 17 Pro is for buyers who want flagship performance in a compact form factor — a rarity in today’s market — and don’t mind the import route. If camera is your number one priority, consider the Xiaomi 17 Ultra instead. If you want warranty coverage and Google services out of the box, wait for a potential global release or look at alternatives like the Xiaomi 15T Pro or OnePlus 15.

Final Verdict

The Xiaomi 17 Pro may well be the most balanced smartphone in the entire 17 series. It gives up nothing in raw performance, delivers a triple 50 MP camera system with an excellent primary sensor, comes with a monster 6,300 mAh battery with 100 W charging, features a top-tier AMOLED display, and adds the unique secondary OLED screen. The only real downside is its China-exclusive availability.
